LONDON — Emily Watson, David Wenham and Hugo Weaving have all boarded helmer Jim Loach’s directorial debut “Oranges and Sunshine.”
Pic recounts the true story of Margaret Humphreys, a social worker from Nottingham who uncovered a scandal surrounding the forced migration of children from across the U.K. to Australia.
Rona Munro has penned the screenplay, which is an adaptation of Humphreys’ book “Empty Cradles.”
Sixteen Films’ Camilla Bray is producing along with Emile Sherman and See-Saw Films’ Iain Canning.
Screen Australia, Little Gaddesden Productions, Fulcrum Media Finance, South Australian Film Corporation, Deluxe, Screen NSW and BBC Films have all contributed coin.
Icon Film Distribution is handling international sales and will also release the pic in the U.K. and Australia.
