BUENOS AIRES — Jose Escalante has left as CEO of Dori Media America and president and general manager of Dori Media Distribution after helping expand global sales with such Argentinean telenovelas as womanizer comedy “Lalola.”
His departure takes effect immediately Dori Media Group said citing personal reasons.
Andres Santos, Juan Fernandez and Elena Antonini will run sales out of Miami and Buenos Aires, reporting to DMG prexy-CEO Nadav Palti.
Escalante joined Tel Aviv-based DMG in 2007, establishing a U.S. beachhead in Miami. He helped lead a surge in sales, with “Lalola” getting picked up in 69 territories, including the U.S. where Sony Pictures Television took remake rights.
DMG produces some 800 hours a year of telenovelas in Argentina and Israel.
