Exec named sr. VP programming, development

Dick Clark Prods. has tapped Will Staeger to serve as its senior VP of programming and strategic development.

Staeger will handle development, sales and production in all media and report to Dick Clark Prods. prexy Orly Adelson.

Exec’s resume includes serving as exec producer of original entertainment at ESPN, where he launched shows such as “Playmakers,” “Tilt,” “World Series of Poker,” “Pardon the Interruption” and the Dale Earnhardt TV movie “3.”

More recently, he wrote two novels, “Painkiller” and “Public Enemy,” both of which were published by William Morrow.

Adelson said Staeger’s experience at ESPN made him “the ideal match for the strategic growth” of Dick Clark Prods.

“Will develops and delivers great stories, regardless of genre, and has a wealth of experience on the business side of dealmaking as well,” she said.

Staeger also spent time at ESPN as director of programming, working closely with the NBA.

Before ESPN, he served as senior VP at Akiva Goldsman’s Warner Bros.-based shingle Weed Road Pictures. He also spent time at Joel Silver’s Silver Pictures.
