Drexel U: Asst. Professor, Digital Media
In the spirit of Drexel U.’s cooperative learning program, Christopher P. Redmann not only teaches a course called “Particle Systems/Artificial Intelligence for Visual Effects” but also applies the somewhat esoteric subject matter to the everyday nuts and bolts of filmmaking by integrating the latest in vfx technology into a film — not in a Hollywood studio, but in his classroom in Philadelphia.
When Redmann’s former college roommate Joseph Guerrieri wrapped production on his first feature, the indie thriller “Trail of Blood,” Redmann saw it as “a great opportunity for my class to work on the visual effects for it, using tools like Massive and Houdini,” he says.
“It’s a graduate-level course. One of the things Drexel’s all about is that students have a co-op experience and the ability to transition from an educational setting into a professional setting. The students jumped at the chance to do this.”
