Helmers Julie Taymor, Harold Becker, Terry Gilliam and Amos Gitai, and thesps Samuel L. Jackson, Danny Glover and Angela Molina are among the latest additions to the long list of career recognition recipients expected on the Italian isle for the 14th annual Capri, Hollywood Film Festival.
Also booked for the star-studded shindig on the seaside resort off the coast of Naples are local industry heavyweights including Asia Argento, Marco Bellocchio and Maria Grazia Cucinotta, who will mingle with Hollywood producers such as Avi Lerner and Heidi Jo Markel during the Dec. 27-Jan. 2 event dedicated to bringing the Italian and U.S. industries together and to serving as a pre-Oscars showcase.
Becker, whose pics include “Taps” and “Domestic Disturbance,” will be handed this year’s Capri lifetime achievement nod by Jackson, star of the 81-year-old helmer’s upcoming indie drama “Vengeance: A Love Story.”
Taymor, who is being honored for her creativity, will be bringing to the isle a sneak peek of her gender-bending adaptation of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest,” which stars Helen Mirren as a female Prospero.
The European preem of Michael Douglas starrer “Solitary Man” will be the fest’s opener, followed by “Precious.”
