RIO DE JANEIRO — Government movie promotion org Cinema of Brazil will award up to $15,000 in grants as an incentive for companies distributing local pics outside the country.
The money, which must be used to cover coasts on advertising and prints, will go to each of 10 companies that fulfill certain requirements.
The company must invest a minimum of $15,000 on distributing a pic from its own pocket; it must open the film on between two and 20 prints; and the movie must be released in at least five towns or run for four weeks.
Those interested in the grant must submit applications by Aug. 30.
Brazil’s export agency Apex and Ministry of Culture and Cinema Agency (Ancine) sponsor Cinema of Brazil, which attends 18 international fests and markets to stimulate the distribution of local pics abroad.
