BBC Trust delays Project Canvas

Board seeks further information from backers

Project Canvas, an initiative backed by the BBC, ITV and British Telecom that will bring Internet TV to Blighty’s smallscreens via a set-top box, has been delayed.

The BBC Trust said Thursday that it needs more information about the service before it greenlights it.

Pay satcaster BSkyB is lobbying against Canvas, which it sees as a threat to its business. It wants communications regulator Ofcom to conduct a market impact assessment.
