STOCKHOLM — Lars von Trier’s thriller “Antichrist” has won the Nordic Council Film Prize.
The kudo, which comes with a check for 350,000 Danish kroner ($70,000), will be handed out Tuesday in Stockholm.
“Antichrist” world preemed in Cannes, where its graphic scenes of sex and violence caused heated debate. However, star Charlotte Gainsbourg also won the fest’s prize for actress.
The other pics competing for the Nordic Council Film Prize were Finnish helmer AJ Annila’s “Sauna,” Swedish director Mikael Kristersson’s “Light Year,” Norwegian director Rune Denstad Langlo’s “North” and Icelandic filmmaker Olaf de Fleur Johannesson’s “The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela.”
