Org launches Atlanta Arts Recovery initiative
The Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund has launched a two-year program called the Atlanta Arts Recovery initiative, in order to help sustain area arts orgs including several legit troupes.
The $2.5 million program, benefiting companies with annual budgets of less than $2 million a year, will hand out two cycles of grants per annum in 2009 and 2010, with each cycle totaling $500,000.
Among the orgs benefiting from the first round are Theater in the Square ($75,000), True Colors ($75,000), Actor’s Express ($60,000) and Dad’s Garage Theater Company ($45,000).
Initiative also will expand services offered by the Arts Fund, including organizational consulting and a loans program.
Major funding partners include the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, the Kendeda Fund, Zeist Foundation and Bank of America, whose contributions total $1.8 million.
