LONDON — The Abu Dhabi Film Commission, in partnership with Imagenation Abu Dhabi, has opened registration for film financing confab The Circle.
This year’s event, which unspools Oct. 9-11 during the third edition of Abu Dhabi’s Middle East International Film Festival, will feature panels on women in film, documentary production, natural history filmmaking as well as workshops designed to promote potential lensing locations in the emirate.
The three-day confab will once again offer six Middle East filmmakers a shot at winning the $100,000 Shasha screenwriting grant.
Last year’s winner, Moroccan helmer Hicham Ayouch, subsequently inked a deal with 20th Century Fox to develop his project “Samba.”
This year’s Shasha grant winner will be offered a first-look deal with Abu Dhabi’s $1 billion production arm Imagenation to develop and produce their project.
