The Weinstein Co. has handed out pinkslips three months after the company hired consulting firm Miller Buckfire & Co. to explore its financial options.
TWC didn’t disclose how many slots are being eliminated, but it’s understood to be less than 10.
“We regret that any one has to lose his or her job, but this is part of our previously announced plan to streamline the company,” a rep said.
The 4-year-old company, founded by Bob and Harvey Weinstein after the brothers split with Miramax, has seen Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” gross $95 million domestically and $83 million internationally in two weeks. TWC’s “Halloween II” has taken in $27 million domestically in its first two frames.
