Otis College of Art & Design, Class of '08

Last year was an “annus mirabilis” for Tiffany Houghton. First, the Otis student won one of only three internships awarded annually by the Motion Picture Academy’s Sci-Tech Council, landing her at Pixar for three months last summer. Houghton so impressed Pixar that the company offered her a full-time position, bypassing the usual hiring protocols (technically, the UCSD grad had another year to complete her master’s in animation at Otis).

“Winning the internship was extremely important, as it gave me the chance to work in quite a few departments at Pixar, learn a lot and prepare me for a career here,” the young animator explains.

After being trained in the Pixar pipeline, Houghton went straight into production, mainly working on the “Tokyo Mater” short, modeling sets and environments and doing some rendering. “That allowed me to show them the wide range of skills I have,” says Houghton, who is working on “Up.”
