Borys Lankosz's feature debut takes top prize
WARSAW — Borys Lankosz’s feature debut “The Reverse” won the Gdynia Polish Film Festival’s Golden Lions for film and producer on Saturday as the six-day event came to a close.
Pic, from a script by Andrzej Bart, tells the darkly comedic story of three generations of Polish women in the 1950s.
“The Reverse,” filmed in black and white, also took awards for actress (Agata Buzek), supporting actor (Marcin Dorocinski), cinematography (Marcin Koszalka), music (Wlodzimierz Pawlik) and makeup.
Silver Lions for film and producer went to Xavery Zulawski’s “Snow White and Russian Red,” based on Dorota Maslowska’s bestseller.
Next year, the Gdynia Polish Film Festival, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the Polish Film Assn., moves to the end of May.
