Multiyear deal includes 'Inglourious Basterds'
BERLIN — NBC Universal Intl. Television Distribution has inked a multiyear agreement with Germany’s RTL Television that includes Joe Johnston’s “The Wolfman” and Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds.”
The deal gives RTL free-TV licensing rights to a broad selection of current, library and upcoming NBC U films, series, miniseries and telepics including Paul Weitz’s upcoming “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant,” Sacha Baron Cohen starrer “Bruno” and “Fast and Furious” with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
Other high-profile films coming to RTL include Miguel Sapochnik’s sci-fi thriller “The Repossession Mambo” (aka “Repo Men”), with Jude Law and Forest Whitaker; “Land of the Lost,” starring Will Ferrell; and Judd Apatow’s “Funny People,” starring Adam Sandler.
Dirk Schweitzer, RTL exec VP of program acquisitions and sales, said the deal continues the broadcaster’s “fruitful collaboration with NBC Universal,” adding that the “off-key comedies and sumptuous action movies fit perfectly in our program.”
