French toon company Xilam Animation is teaming with France Television Distribution to produce a DVD Christmas special on Xilam’s flagship animated cat “Oggy.”
Paris-based Xilam Animation is also in talks to produce a multiplatform vidgame on “Oggy,” aimed at 7 to 14 year olds.
The 200-episode, seven-minute series slapstick animated series “Oggy and the Cockroaches” is Xilam’s priority sell at upcoming Mip TV.
Series tracks the explosive confrontations of a big blue cat, Oggy by name, and three ugly cockroaches.
Third season of “Oggy and the Cockroaches” is set to debut on Gallic pay TV broadcaster Canal Plus this fall.
Series has already been sold to Italy’s Mediaset, Belgium’s VRT, Finland’s MTV Oy and Israel’s Noga.
“Oggy and the Cockroaches” first two seasons appear among French animation’s top-ranking exports, having aired in more than 120 countries.
Marc du Pontavice’s Xilam Animation has also closed a raft of licensing deals on “Oggy,” including with specialist manufacturer Jemini, which launches 12 different toys in June, and with Benjamin on range of sockwear.
