VOD network nabs rights to winter sports events

The Ski Channel has found new slopes to conquer.

Video-on-demand net has obtained broadcast rights to several major winter sports events, including the Freeskiing World Tour, World Freeskiing Championships, U.S. Freeskiing Series and North Face Masters Series.

American tour stops include Jackson Hole, Wyo.; Squaw Valley, Calif.; and Crested Butte and Telluride, Colo. Globally, skiers will hit the snow pack in Europe and South America as well.

Ski Channel has partnered with Mountain Sports Intl. on several events, including North Face Masters, which is the preeminent Big Mountain Snowboard tour.

“This is a landmark deal for the Ski Channel, and we now have the biggest tours in snow sports on our air,” said chairman-CEO Steve Bellamy.
