MILAN — RAI director general Claudio Cappon has succeeded in removing embattled Agostino Sacca from his job as drama chief at the Italo pubcaster.
Sacca will move to a commercial portfolio, while RAI Uno director Fabrizio Del Noce takes over the fiction hot seat.
Previous attempts to oust Sacca, an ally of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, had been blocked by center-right supporters on the pubcaster’s governing Consiglio di Amministrazione committee.
But the defection of right-winger Marco Staderini into the anti-Sacca camp on Friday night left him stranded.
Sacca is at the center of the Berlusconi/RAI jobs-for-starlets corruption row.
He may yet have the last laugh. Insiders say he could be reinstated on a new RAI board, due this fall.
