SYDNEY — Terrestrial broadcaster Seven Network has commissioned a second series of family skein “Packed to the Rafters,” one of the year’s surprise hits.
“Rafters,” about empty nesters who suddenly find themselves with a full house again, is the year’s top-ranking drama and draws a boffo weekly aud of close to 2 million.
With these figures a second series was a no-brainer but the size of the aud seems to have surprised even Seven’s drama topper John Holmes.
“The success of ‘Packed to the Rafters’ has been extraordinary,” Holmes said. “We knew we had a great show and a brilliant cast but the response from audiences has been overwhelming.”
Filming on the second skein will take place early next year.
