Launches networks in Norway, Sweden

STOCKHOLM — Modern Times Group (MTG) has announced the launch of several local sports channels in Norway and Sweden and reupped premiere sporting events such as UEFA Champions League football and Formula One racing to the end of the 2011-12 season.

Viasat Sport, Viasat Football and Viasat Motor will air in Sweden, and Viasat Motor and Viasat Sport in Norway. This channel structure replaces Viasat Sport 1, 2 and 3.

Viasat Sport will feature the Ice Hockey World Championships, Champions Hockey League and Russian KHL League ice hockey and American NFL.

Viasat Football also will feature events including the 2010 World Cup qualifying rounds, the English FA Cup and League Cup championships, the Chelsea and Manchester United matches, and the French league.

Viasat Motor will, besides Formula One, feature the MotoGP motorcycle grand prix championship, the Swedish Touring Car Championships and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series from the U.S.
