MGM Channel bows on Indian cable

Channel will reach 70 million homes

MGM is launching a channel on Indian cable via Star Den, a joint venture between Rupert Murdoch’s Star and Digital Entertainment Network. Announcing the pact Tuesday, Bruce Tuchman, exec VP of MGM Networks said MGM Channel, which has bowed, will reach 70 million homes, significantly expanding its reach via Dish TV.

The Star Den agreement will also help the channel gain traction through new satellite and IPTV platforms now emerging in India.

The 24-hour channel will offer movie-loving Indians such favorites as “Manhattan,” “A Passage to India” and “Midnight Cowboy.”
