Network sets '90210,' 'Filthy Rich' on Tuesdays
CW is sticking with the status quo for the most part in its third season on the air.
Net wouldn’t confirm its 2008-09 lineup, to be announced Tuesday, but the major move is expected to come on Tuesdays, where the “Beverly Hills, 90210” spinoff is likely to anchor at 8 p.m., followed by newcomer “Surviving the Filthy Rich.”
With WWE’s “Smackdown” ending its run on CW in September, net is expected to fill its Friday slots with comedies “Everybody Hates Chris” and “The Game,” followed by repeats of “America’s Next Top Model.”
CW is expected to stay the same on Mondays (“Gossip Girl,” “One Tree Hill”) and Thursdays (“Smallville,” “Supernatural”). Net’s buzz magnet “Gossip Girl” is also set for a summer run, with five episodes devoted to the characters and their antics in the Hamptons that will lead into the fall storyline.
On Wednesdays, reality staple “America’s Next Top Model” will likely be paired with “Stylista,” the new unscripted entry from “Top Model” exec producers Ken Mok and Tyra Banks.
As for the new Sunday night block of programming handled by tyro indie Media Rights Capital, the shingle has backed off plans to announce its new shows on Tuesday (Daily Variety, May 12). Company, which is taking over the 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. block on the night, had originally planned to announce two comedies and two dramas, but it is still working on finalizing those deals.
