NEW YORK — Although it lacked snow, spin and swarms of dealmakers, the Oct. 27 Sundance Institute fund-raiser seemed a reasonable facsimile of a Park City party.
At cocktails and dinner at the Roseland Ballroom, stars such as Alec Baldwin and Jane Fonda mingled with donors and a smattering of industryites. A separately ticketed after-party drew filmmakers such as Joshua Marston, Barbara Kopple and guest DJ John Cameron Mitchell.
“To most people, this is the worst of times,” said Robert Redford, referring to the economy. “But I see a glimmer of hope that belongs in the area of art. Now, more than ever, we need artists.”
