DreamWorks Theatricals threw a big Broadway bash Sunday following the opening night of its first tuner, “Shrek the Musical.”
The soiree took up several levels of the Plaza Hotel, where Hollywood types like DreamWorks Animation honcho Jeffrey Katzenberg and Cameron Diaz, the voice of Princess Fiona in the “Shrek” pics, could congratulate show creatives as well as lead producers, DreamWorks’ Bill Damaschke and Neal Street Prods.’ Caro Newling.
Daniel Breaker, who plays Donkey in the tuner, said his preparation for the part didn’t involve seeing the animated film — the thesp still hasn’t.
Nonetheless, the Eddie Murphy influence on the role comes through.
“But I’m not doing Eddie Murphy from ‘Shrek,'” Breaker cracked. “I’m doing Eddie Murphy from ‘Trading Places!’ ”
