Richard Gere lets love in at premiere

Diane Lane also attends 'Rodanthe' opening

Making “Nights in Rodanthe,” a movie about love in middle age, didn’t scare Richard Gere or, to his amazement, Warner Bros.

“I am kind of surprised at how confident Warner seems to be about the film,” Gere admitted Tuesday during the pic’s after-party at Gotham’s Four Seasons.

The studio’s faith prompted the veteran thesp to make a call he had “never made before.”

“I called Jeff Robinov and said, ‘I have no complaints at all. You have put a lot of money into promoting the film, so whatever happens, you did great.’ That’s the first phone call like that I’ve ever made.”

Also mingling at the soiree were pic’s Diane Lane, Warner topper Alan Horn, producer Denise Di Novi and helmer George C. Wolfe.
