Morgan Spurlock hosts event
HOLLYWOOD — In the docu world, the Intl. Documentary Assn. Awards held Friday at the Directors Guild of America ranks high.
“This is the Daytona 500 of documentary award ceremonies,” said host Morgan Spurlock. “What makes it especially like Daytona is the open bar.”
During the ceremony, Ari Folman’s “Waltz With Bashir” and James Marsh’s “Man on Wire” split the org’s distinguished feature honor. Amanda Micheli and Isabel Vega drew kudos for their short film “La Corona.”
Honored for their lifetime work were documakers Werner Herzog and Rob Epstein, editor Sam Pollard and preservationist Marina Goldovskaya.
