‘Evil’ bows at Tokyo Game Show

'Degeneration' to open on Oct. 18 in Japan

TOKYO — “Resident Evil: Degeneration,” the first full CG pic based on Capcom’s popular “Resident Evil” game series, preemed Friday at the Tokyo Game Show in the spacious Makuhari Messe event space.

Helmer Makoto Kamiya and producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi earlier attended a press conference, together with American-Japanese pop star Anna Tsuchiya, who supplied not only the pic’s ending tune, “Guilty,” but also the Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan event’s only touch of glamour. “Resident Evil” is “more than its hard and dark side — it’s also got a kind of beauty,” she said in Japanese. “My song’s heavy guitar sound is also beautiful, so it’s just right for the world of the film.”

The pic opens Oct. 18 in Japan.
