Huston, Holmes, Bale attend event

Anjelica Huston, Katie Holmes and Christian Bale were among the stars tipping their hats to Hollywood’s top costume designers at Tuesday’s 10th annual Costume Designers Guild awards at the BevWilshire Hotel.

Also on hand were designer Bob Mackie and industry folks including James Mangold and Cathy Konrad, who were honored with the distinguished director-producer award.

“Costume designers do so much more than is commonly recognized,” Konrad said.

Mangold echoed the sentiment, saying, “It’s not just about a hat, or a shoe, or a cane, or a coat. It’s about the character.”

United Artists topper Paula Wagner was honored with the Swarovski President’s Award, while costume designers Julie Weiss (“Blades of Glory”), Colleen Atwood (“Sweeney Todd”) and Ruth Myers (“The Golden Compass”) took home top prizes.
