Actress opens 'Crystal Skull' in Australia
Less than 72 hours after stepping out at Cannes, Cate Blanchett introduced “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” to her hometown May 21 for the Australian premiere.
At the Greater Union George Street cinemas, Blanchett said the pic’s helmer, Steven Spielberg, was one of the biggest influences on her early cinemagoing before adding, “other than, of course, Bergman, Tarkovsky, Peter Weir and Gillian Armstrong.”
Blanchett said that after the “Indiana Jones” media frenzy, she was going to take a little time off to focus on co-helming the Sydney Theater Company with husband, Andrew Upton.
At the preem, local celebs joined Oz industry toppers Ross Entwistle, Stephen Basil-Jones and Par’s Mike Selwyn.
