Lisa Paulsen, president and CEO of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, said Monday the Stand Up to Cancer initiative to accelerate research has raised more than $100 million since its launch in May.
The success of the initiative comes after the Entertainment Industry Foundation teamed up with the networks Friday for a commercial-free telecast.
Sidney Kimmel pledged $25 million during the telecast and Major League Baseball kicked in $10 million.
The American Assn. for Cancer Research will work with a scientific advisory committee, which will administer the funds to conduct expert scientific review of the projects.
Other supporters include eBay, Facebook, iTunes and Time Inc.
