Cloris Leachman to lead New Year's festivities

Cloris Leachman has been tapped grand marshal of the 2009 Rose Parade on New Year’s Day.

The veteran thesp, an Oscar and multiple Emmy winner, was selected by the Tournament of Roses org to complement the theme of the 2009 festivities, “Hats Off to Entertainment.”

“My grandkids are thrilled that I’m going to be part of a parade that is actually older than I am,” Leachman said.

Telecast around the world, the 120th Rose Parade kicks off at 8 a.m. Jan. 1 in Pasadena and will be followed by the 95th Rose Bowl pigskin game.
