Daily Variety parent Reed Elsevier has hired a headhunter to search for a replacement to CEO Crispin Davis.
No precise date has yet been fixed for Davis’ retirement, although his exit is expected sometime next year.
A Reed spokesman declined to comment apart from issuing a statement, which said: “The board is determined to ensure a smooth and professional succession as and when the time comes.”
Reed Elsevier is in the process of divesting itself of its business-to-business print arm.
The company also publishes Broadcasting & Cable, Multichannel News and Publishers Weekly, and runs TV events Mipcom and Mip TV plus music event Midem.
