HBO co-president Harold Akselrad is ankling the cabler after 25 years, most of them as chief counsel.
Akselrad joined the company in 1983 as associate counsel for litigation. After a series of promotions, he was upped in 2002 to general counsel-exec VP, legal, business affairs and film programming.
In June 2007 he was promoted to co-president, responsible for the network’s legal, business affairs, film acquisition and technology groups while continuing in his capacity as general counsel.
“I leave with confidence, knowing that strong, capable and dedicated people are in place to continue to move the company forward,” said Akselrad, who cited a desire to pursue other personal and professional interests as his reason for leaving.”It is not an exaggeration to say that (Akselrad) labored tirelessly to secure the present and future of our business,” said HBO chairman-CEO Bill Nelson.
