Disney Media taps Peter Seymour

Exec VP will oversee strategy and research

Disney Media Networks has tapped Peter Seymour to serve as exec VP of strategy and research.

Promotion was announced Tuesday by Disney Media Network co-chairs Anne Sweeney and George Bodenheimer; he’ll report to both execs as he handles strategic development for the division.

Seymour is charged with overseeing research and media planning for the Disney ABC Television Group; he also reports to Sweeney in that capacity.

Sweeney said Seymour possessed a “deep understanding of our company’s vision and direction,” while Bodenheimer cited Seymour’s 20-year experience and his focus on “innovation and new technology as a top priority throughout the Walt Disney Co.”

Seymour’s team handles strategy, business opportunities, investment and acquisitions, among other fields, for Disney’s global TV programming outlets — such as ABC, ESPN, Disney Channel, ABC Family, ABC Studios and Disney-ABC Domestic TV. as well as Radio Disney and Hyperion.

Exec also serves as a Disney rep on the boards of A&E and Lifetime, and is a supervisory board member of Jetix Europe.

Seymour joined the company in 1996 as manager, strategic planning.
