Live-action/CGI movie set to bow in 2010

Cartoon Network has greenlit a live-action/CGI movie based on Laurence Yep’s bestselling Harper Collins book “Tiger’s Apprentice” and set to bow in 2010.

Adaptation will be penned by David Magee (“Finding Neverland”), with Jane Startz (“Tuck Everlasting,” “The Indian in the Cupboard”) exec producing. Project is now in pre-production, with staffing and casting under way at Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank.

Story focuses on an orphaned teenager who’s living in San Francisco’s Chinatown and protected by a mystical tiger who can take human form.

Pic joins an expanding Cartoon Network development slate that also includes comicbook-based titles “Firebreather,” “The Vanishers,” “Mice Templar” and the sequel to the network’s live-action movie “Ben 10.”
