Companies pact to produce redo of hit show

Mark Burnett and Ralph Edwards Prods. have pacted to produce a new incarnation of “This Is Your Life.”

“Life,” in which unwitting guests are surprised with a nostalgic retelling of their life stories, complete with appearances by noteworthy people in their past, began as a radio show in 1948.

It went on to become one of early television’s biggest hits, airing on NBC and in syndication from 1952-61.

Ralph Edwards Prods. is named after the series’ signature host.

Burnett adds the skein to the lineup at his reality-based shingle that includes CBS’ “Survivor” and NBC’s “The Apprentice” and “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”
