Asia Television taps duo for Page post

Execs to replace CEO

HONG KONG — Hong Kong’s No. 2 commercial broadcaster Asia Television has tapped two execs with strong telco backgrounds to replace CEO Louis Page, who quit suddenly in October after a year in the job.

Ricky Wong Wai-kay, chairman and exec director of City Telecom (Hong Kong), was appointed CEO. He will keeps his jobs with City Telecom, but scale back his time at the company.

Linus Cheung Wing-lam former deputy chairman of PCCW, will take the new position of executive chairman. He is chairman of the University of Hong Kong School of Professional & Continuing Education.

ATV said the exec chairman will focus on strategic direction while the CEO will focus on operation matters.

Since new shareholders, headed by ABN-Amro, were drafted in last year ATV has undergone restructuring, including the launch of six digital channels. Last month the group fired 63 staffers because of declining advertising revenue.
