LONDON — Endemol, the international entertainment shingle, has tapped a former ITV legal eagle as its global head of legal.
He is Andy Griffiths, whose stint at ITV included helping to finesse the problematic merger between Carlton and Granada that eventually created ITV plc.
The topper also contributed to drawing up ITV’s terms of trade with U.K. indies, acquiring sports rights and getting digital upstarts ITV3, ITV4, CITV and ITV Play up and running.
His new gig at Endemol will involve advising on all aspects of the business including licensing and sales of intellectual property, plus overseeing mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and commercial partnerships.
Griffiths, who joins Endemol early next year, will be based in London and report to Endemol CEO Ynon Kreiz, who has been on a hiring spree since he took over at the “Big Brother” combo last May.
