Actor signs holding deal with studio
Fresh off of his Comedy Central spesh, thesp-comedian Nick Thune has signed a holding deal with ABC Studios. He’s also sold a pilot script to ABC and ABC Studios for a half-hour he will co-write with feature scribe Bob Fisher (“Wedding Crashers”) and helmer Ruben Fleischer.
The still-untitled comedy will focus on an aimless guy, to be played by Thune, who finds himself lost between childhood and adulthood after his girlfriend dumps him and his best friend gets married.
Thune’s Comedy Central standup spesh bowed late last month. His pic credits include “Knocked Up” and “Unaccompanied Minors.” Thune and Fleischer also co-created and exec produced the MTV series “Rob & Big,” featuring short films from the pair.
Should the pilot move forward, Fisher will serve as showrunner and exec producer. Other exec producers including 3 Arts’ Dave Becky, Michael Rotenberg and Tom Lassally and DreamWorks’ Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank.
Fisher also has a comedy pic in the hopper at Relativity Media: “Contractors,” co-penned with Dave Hemingson.
Fleischer, a commercial and musicvid helmer, is also developing two comedy feature projects, Sony’s “Zombieland” and MTV/Paramount’s “Psycho Funky Chimp.”
