Voom HD Networks has inked a second major European carriage deal for its high-adrenaline Rush channel, a 24/7 linear outlet devoted to extreme sports and action skeins.
Rush will launch on German regional cabler Kabel Baden Wuerttemberg (Kabel BW) on a new pay TV package reaching some 2.3 million homes.
A high-def version of Rush is already available on BSkyB’s satellite platform in the U.K.
Brokered by Liberty Global’s broadcasting group and channel distrib Chello Zone, the latest deal is part of Voom HD Networks’ international expansion. In addition to Rush, company also operates its Voom HD channel in Europe and Asia.
“Germany is undoubtedly an important market for us,” said Glenn Oakley, Voom HD Nets’ senior VP, global operations and business development.
With some 18 million cable homes, Germany is the world’s third-largest TV market and Europe’s largest digital cable territory.
“The exhilarating extreme-sports programming featured on Rush is definitely of interest to our customers, so the channel was a natural fit and will make a great addition to our offerings,” said Klaus Wolf, head of content at Kabel BW.
