Universal Pictures has named Kori Bernards senior VP of media relations.
She will serve as the key media strategist and contact for the studio for trade and business press and aid U’s domestic and international divisions with their media relations.
Bernards will report to exec VP of publicity Michael Moses, who said, “The media relations executive position requires someone who is part strategist, part diplomat, part wizard and part counselor, and Kori is a multidimensional professional who brings all of those traits.”
She replaces Stacy Ivers, who had been in the position since August 2006 and ankled in April. Moses has been undertaking the duties of the post since then.
Bernards has spent the past four years working for the Motion Picture Assn. of America, most recently as senior VP of corporate communications.
Before that, she served as senior political and communications aide to three of the highest-ranking members of the U.S. House of Representatives, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Appropriations Committee chairman David Obey.
