Exec promoted to network president
Tom Calderone has been promoted to president of VH1.
Previously operating under the title of exec VP and general manager, Calderone has headed the MTV Networks channel — as well as its associated outlets, including VH1 Classic and VH1 Soul — since 2005, reporting to MTV Networks Music and Logo Group prexy Van Toffler.
Under Calderone’s guidance, VH1 posted 23 consecutive quarters of growth in total viewers, and the channel produced its best-ever quarterly numbers in the 18-49 demo earlier this year.
In addition to overseeing VH1, Calderone will continue to manage the growth of MTV high-def channel Palladia (formerly MHD). He also serves as chairman of the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, which donates musical instruments to public schools.
