Canniffe to head up programming unit
Sony Pictures TV has tapped James Canniffe to serve as vice president of alternative program development, the studio announced Tuesday.
Canniffe will help develop reality programs for network and cable, as well as handle shows already in production. He reports to reality/syndication programming senior VP Holly Jacobs.
Canniffe joins Sony following a stint as co-exec producer on CBS’ upcoming “Greatest American Dog.” His credits also include NBC’s “The Apprentice,” the CW’s “Crowned,” ABC Family’s “Switched” and VH1’s “Behind the Music.”
“His enormous wealth of production experience will be a tremendous asset to us as we ramp up our alternative and syndication slate,” Jacobs said.
