Network acquires long-running show

ReelzChannel has acquired the secondary run of long-running film review series “At the Movies With Ebert & Roeper,” starting next week.

“At the Movies” reps just the second acquisition for the channel, which primarily produces its own film-centric programming inhouse. But ReelzChannel exec VP-general manager Terry O’Reilly said he couldn’t resist picking up the granddaddy of all review shows.

ReelzChannel first began talks with Disney-ABC Domestic TV about acquiring a run of “At the Movies” last year.

ReelzChannel will pay a standard license fee for the secondary window. Under the deal, following the exclusive weekend syndicated run of “At the Movies,” net will get a limited number of runs between Tuesday and Thursday the following week. ReelzChannel will bow each week’s episode on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. (ET), with several runs after that.

Buena Vista Prods. produces “At the Movies.”

ReelzChannel’s only other acquisition is anthology series “The Directors.”
