Sony Pictures TV media relations exec Karen Barragan has been upped to VP.
Barragan, who’s been with the studio since 2004, handles publicity for Sony’s broadcast, cable and digital programming, including A&E’s upcoming Patrick Swayze starrer “The Beast,” ABC’s “The Unusuals” and the Crackle.com series “Angel of Death.”
She reports to Sony Pictures TV marketing prexy Bob Oswaks, who called Barragan a “strategic, big picture thinker.”
Barragan had most recently been exec director of media relations; she’s worked on past projects such as FX’s “Rescue Me,” AMC’s “Breaking Bad” and Adult Swim’s “The Boondocks.” Before Sony, she worked at the MPRM public relations firm.
As Barragan moves up, Sony has hired Caroline Mendoza as director of media relations, based in New York. She’ll work on PR for “Damages,” “Rescue Me” and “The Unusuals,” among other fare. She joins from AMC.
