Jason Brenek has been upped to the newly created position of senior VP of worldwide digital cinema and cinema programming at Disney.
Brenek most recently served as VP of distribution strategy.
In his new post, he will be responsible for developing and overseeing cinema programming (any non-movie content including 3-D or live events delivered to theaters enabled by digital cinema), setting Disney’s worldwide digital cinema strategy and negotiating and closing digital cinema deployment deals worldwide.
He also will work with all areas of production and distribution to ensure a smooth transition from 35mm to digital exhibition.
Brenek will report to Mark Zoradi, president, Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group.
In his previous role at the studio, Brenek led negotiations and helped Disney become the first studio in the industry to deploy digital cinema by signing deals with Dolby and Christie/AIX. He recently oversaw negotiations for the first international D-Cinema deployment deal with Arts Alliance.
