Chris Neel to lead Initiative in L.A.

Exec will oversee media buyer

Media buyer Initiative has tapped Chris Neel to head up the company’s national broadcast division in Los Angeles.

Neel, a 12-year vet of the media and marketing firm, will continue to oversee work for clients such as Lionsgate Films and Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group. He’ll now also manage the national broadcast department on the West Coast; Ray Dundas and Todd Gordon continue to handle national broadcast oversight in New York.

“Chris is a fantastic example of homegrown Initiative talent,” said Initiative’s U.S. president, Tim Spengler. He’s “proved himself in a number of different roles.”

Neel will report to Kris Magel, Initiative’s exec VP-director of national broadcast.

Exec’s credits at the company include working closely with Home Depot, where he struck agreements with SEC football and “ESPN Game Day” and sponsorship deals with Discovery Networks, HGTV and others.

Neel also helped bring about integration for Dr. Pepper/Snapple on shows such as “90210” and “Top Chef.”

Neel joined Initiative predecessor Western Intl. Media in 1996; he first entered the agency business at Lintas in 1992.

Initiative, a part of Interpublic Group, has clients that also include CBS, Hitachi, Hyundai, Kia, MillerCoors, MySpace Music, Nikon, Quiznos and SC Johnson.
