BermanBraun in ‘Love’ with stories

Company acquires TV right to column

BermanBraun has acquired the TV rights to the popular New York Times Sunday Styles section column “Modern Love,” which offers essays on amore from a wide variety of perspectives.

“We all love the column here, and since we read it and wind up talking about it, it generates discussion as to what kind of series we’d create around it,” said Gail Berman, noting that BermanBraun is meeting with writers to develop some of those concepts.

Running since 2004, “Modern Love” examines human relationships of all kinds in shortform essay format, with writers spanning wide age and geographical spectrums. According to the New York Observer, “no fewer than nine” book deals have been generated so far by the column.
