MTV renames HD channel Palladia

Madonna to kick off revised channel's 'Week'

MTV Networks will rebrand its hi-def music channel, MHD, as Palladia and program it with a range of tune-based movies and recorded concert events.

The revised channel will kick off Sept. 1 with a themed “Outdoor Concert Week,” which will feature a range of not-inside-set music events featuring current artists such as Amy Winehouse, Madonna and Kanye West, as well as legacy performers such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Launched in January 2006, the channel reaches 12 million households and is supported by most major cable and satellite carriers in the U.S.
