Co. preps alternative to Facebook application

What’s the word score for “lawsuit”?

Just weeks after launching its own officially sanctioned version of Scrabble on Facebook and other websites, Hasbro has filed a copyright infringement suit against the makers of Scrabulous, the ultra-popular Facebook app that’s a knockoff of Hasbro’s classic board game. It also sent a takedown notice to Facebook.

Though Scrabulous has been popular on Facebook for about a year, the toy company apparently didn’t want to engender online anger by taking down the game until it had an official alternative.
