Mayor Macri uses Pixar robot in ad campaign
It may be the Paris of South America, but the streets of Buenos Aires are dirty. To clean things up, mayor Mauricio Macri has enlisted the help of none other than “Wall-E.”
The eco-friendly cleanup robot and other characters from the Disney-Pixar toon appear in an ad campaign sloganed “A Cleaner City” encouraging residents to put their trash into the bins.
City officials are working with some 200,000 first- to fifth-graders on a competition to present ideas for keeping the city clean. Prizes include “Wall-E” paraphernalia, tickets to Disney movies and visits to Radio Disney and Zapping Zone, a TV program.
Kids, says Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, the city’s chief of cabinet, are always open to learn and will press their parents to clean up.
